The course in Italian for Citizenship Codici is part of two projects co-financed by the European Union (European Funds for the Integration of Citizens from Third World Countries) and the Ministero dell’Interno (Home Office). It is managed and coordinated by Professor Anna De Meo and takes place at CILA (from 2017 CLAOR), the language centre of the University of Naples L’Orientale and entitled:
“PROFESSIONE ITALIANO. Lingua, citadinanza, salute e tutela della persona” (Language, citizenship, health and protection of the individual) (Action Plan 1, year 2011);
“Italian for new Italians: a language for citizenship” (Action Plan 1, year 2012).

In order to promote literacy and the learning of the Italian language by citizens of Third World countries resident in Italy, and to encourage the development of civic awareness, from October 2012 to June 2014, 28 courses in Italian language, citizenship, safety in the workplace and health care were run. Special attention was given to minors and the deaf. About 1000 immigrant citizens of 53 different nationalities were enrolled in two projects. About half the students sat the CILS certificate, level A2, which enables participants to obtain a long-term sojourn permit.
The Projects were run with the support of an interprovincial network made up of various local organisations: AmbitoSociale 30 (Torre Annunziata, Boscotrecase, Boscoreale, Trecase), Ente Nazionale Sordi of Naples, INAIL Campania, Unioncamere Campania, LESS Onlus of Naples, Centro Fernandes of Castel Volturno, AIUDU of Giugliano, Dadaa Ghezo of Sant'Antimo, Scuola di Pace of Naples, AssoMaggiore of Frattamaggiore.

The materials on the Co.d’I.Ci website were created by the students attending the second level  Masters course in Teaching Italian as a Second Language of the University of Naples "L'Orientale" (from 2012).

The scientific director of the website is Prof. Anna De Meo. Elisa Pellegrino, Marta Maffia and Cira Lavorante wrote the syllabus.

Website graphics are by Erica Carol Tortora. Maria De Santo, Antonio Della Monica and Luisa Boardman constructed the website itself.

The objective of Milo Alterio tells about immigrants from Naples through the most deep portrait, the "classic" one, that can seem common but tells so much of the portrayed subject.
